Attention, amateur radio operators! The Joplin Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is looking for volunteers to assist with communications during the Maple Leaf Bicycle Tour on October 12th, 2024. This annual event, hosted by the Joplin Trails Coalition, is an excellent opportunity to support the local community, sharpen your communication skills, and be part of a fun-filled day.
As volunteers, your role will be crucial in ensuring smooth communication across the tour route, providing assistance where needed, and enhancing the safety of riders. Whether you’re an experienced ham or new to the world of amateur radio, your participation will make a difference.

What You Need to Know:
Planning Meeting: Jasper Co. ARES Meeting October 1st, 7pm, at the Salvation Army EDS Building 726 S. Kentucky, Joplin, MO. Attend to volunteer. EDS Building Location Map

- Location: Carthage, MO (specific details will be provided closer to the event)
- Equipment: A 2-meter HT (handheld transceiver) is preferred, but we welcome all licensed operators with any gear.

Anyone interested in helping out with the Maple Leaf bike ride on Saturday Oct 12th needs to attend the Jasper Co. ARES meeting Tuesday October 1st at 7 PM at the Salvation Army EDS building/ garage at 726 S Kentucky, Joplin, MO. We will discuss rest stops, routes and times to have stations set up by at that meeting.
