Portable Wire Antenna With GAIN!!!! The Half-Square is a SINGLE BAND, portable, resonant antenna that allows the user directionality and gain by offering a phased vertical array in a simple package.
Description
Great for SINGLE-BAND operations where you want a little extra gain, the Half-Square has become a cost effective way to reduce noise, add directionality, and easily increase gain by about 3db. This resonant uses its unique design to create what amounts to be two quarter-wave verticals in phase. With nulls off the ends, the antenna fires with an additional 3db of gain depending on its direction. Added with an extremely low take-off angle, this antenna is a cost effective and easy way to chase that rare DX. Though the antenna is resonant, use of a common-mode choke is recommended.
